HOW ALL OF THIS STARTED

"August 2018, I had just arrived in Stockholm, after a one month bicycle trip that led us from Switzerland to Sweden, across France, Germany and Denmark.

I have always be passionate about adventure, and have resigned in myself never to stop exploring, would it be a new street never walked in coming back from my work, the most random pizza at the restaurant or a new kind of crazy trip idea!

The true real kick that set me in motion for this project was when one evening, scrolling down the Netflix menu, I came across this beautiful documentary: Losing sight of shore. This basicaly shows the incredible story of 4 women rowing across the pacific. Inspiring... Shaking... Challenging... Enough to set me in motion and make me start to look at the map in quest for a destination. Why not a Capital to Capital trip? I was in Stockholm... surrounded by the Baltic sea.. my finger slipped across the map... until Helsinki! Stockholm - Helsinki by Kayak, that sounded good!

I had never travelled alone, and I first felt that I would want to attempt this challenge alone.

That was until I met Désirée, a great adventurous woman, Danick with his disciplined-never give up kind of spirit most needed in such a project and the excitement of Sara, so ready to step up into her first adventurous trip! Are we not stronger together? And we use to say that the more crazy people are gathered, the more we laugh right? - at least in french :-)  I was convinced...

It is then while preparing and going around stockholm, investigating the possibility of rending / buying kayaks, that we ended up - almost randomly so to say! -  at Paddla i Pampas, where we met Emil and My. Quite vague and precautious about our project, we started to talk about a kayak trip in the Alands...  almost shy to talk about our real ambition, a bit hesitant about their reaction. We didn't know who we where talking to... Emil had himself done multiple long kayak trips and the two of them where actually really adventurous as well and open for this kind of idea. We thought we where crazy to go to Helsinki... they suggested Talinn!! We couldn't believe it! Those guys where embracing our idea, they where exited about it, and more than that, they where ready to help us, providing training and equipment!! We really had to contain our self not to burst on the spot... our adventure could now started... for real!"

Well determined to experience something new and adventurous, she couldn't let this opportunity pass by when we asked her at the last minute if she wanted to join the crew! We texted her the day of our first training, and she moved everything around on her schedule to be there!!

DANICK

He is this kind of guy that definitely loves to push himself out of my confort zone. The harder it gets, the happier he is! So he was convinced right away as soon as he heard about this project a little bit outside of the box, implying physical challenge, wild camping and team work, all kind of stuff in which he excels!

After 525 days backpacking around the world, and 1 month bicycling in Europe, always thirsty for adventure, she needed to experiment a new way of traveling. Except for a few sailing experiences, she had never been on water before, and is super excited to get to discover this new transportation means!
